Dedicated to Pediatric Excellence
Dr. Cara Donovan is the Senior Audiologist and Director of Pediatrics and Implantable Technologies at Sounds of Life Hearing Center. She earned her Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) in 2020 from the University of Akron as part of the Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium (NOAC). During her training, she gained valuable experience through internships at Akron Children's Hospital and the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center and completed her externship at the Cleveland Clinic.
Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Donovan graduated from North Central High School and attended Butler University for her undergraduate degree. At Butler, she majored in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a concentration in mild intervention for individuals with special needs. Her passion for helping others has been a driving force throughout her career.
Dr. Donovan is committed to making hearing healthcare accessible to underserved communities. She has participated in two audiology humanitarian trips with Hearing the Call to Guatemala, as well as a 2023 mission to Knysna, South Africa, where she provided much-needed hearing care. She looks forward to continuing these efforts worldwide.
At Sounds of Life, Dr. Donovan specializes in pediatric audiology and implantable hearing technologies, including cochlear implants. She is also trained in tinnitus evaluation and treatment, including fitting the Lenire tinnitus device. Dr. Donovan plays a key role in mentoring future audiologists through the practice's Student Initiative program, where she guides students as they develop their clinical skills.
Outside of work, Dr. Donovan enjoys spending time with her family in Cleveland and Indianapolis, reading, watching movies, and caring for her dog, Goose, and cat, Walter. Dr. Donovan's compassion, expertise, and dedication to her patients and the profession make her a vital part of the Sounds of Life team.
